Post Production Processes 1

This is the beginning of the image. From the beginning, I changed the image size to 300 DPI which is the minimum quality, as before the image was set to 72 DPI. I then moved onto  the filter of the picture, I started by sharpening the picture, this was easily done by choosing the unsharp mask option, this was changed to an amount of 180% and a radius of 2.2, this sharpened up the eyes to show the audience that the eyes are a key object as it focuses on that point bringing out a bigger impact. Finally, I adjusted the image to a brightness of 18 and a contrast of 10, this increased the brightness and contrast to balance out the blacks and whites within the image, which enhanced the image.
In this image, I had taken the original image I had changed the brightness and contrast on. I added another feature which is used in the media, rather commonly, which is the clone stamp tool. This made the blemishes in the image reduce and almost disappear, giving it a more 'perfect skin' look, As seen in the media with front cover magazines.

Following the previous image, I used the tool 'dodge and burn' which is used to lighten and darken areas in images. I used the burn tool on the model to darken the shadow on his cheek. Furthermore, I used the dodge tool to brighten the backdrop and certain areas of the model.

In this image, I used the 'curves' option, this brought out the reds within the image to make the image look a lot more warm.

In this image, I used the 'curves' option, this brought out the blues within the image. This made it a lot more contrasted to bring out the background.

In this image, I used the 'curves' option, this brought out the greens within the image. This made it bring a lot more colour in the complexion of the subject, as well as the background, therefore making it a lot more warmer.
In this image, I used the 'desaturation' tool. This image is described as 'sombre', bringing out the sad emotions within the image.
In this image I used the tool 'noise' tool which is located under filters. This image is described as a more textured look, and a lot more gritty. It can also be described as a look from the 1900's. This is previously followed from my desaturation.

In this image  I used the effect 'Hard light'. I done this by duplicating the original image and changing the opacity, then choosing an effect. This made the image look more harsh and serious also a bit sun burnt, giving a serious look.

This is the image in which I started from. In this, I have only added the Total Film text which they used in their own magazines, this is to resemble a professional Total Film Magazine.

In this image, I had used the pen tool to duplicate his head and cut it out to stick in front of the Total Film text, this is because in Total Film magazines characters are mainly portrayed in front of the text, never behind it, this is because we need to see his face. Also, I added the strip and images from different movies on, this gives it a more professional view and targets different types of movies from different topics.

In this screenshot I added a strip and added the images in ready for the tag lines underneath, and also added the Total Film text.

In this screenshot, I added in some text to fill in the blank space so the readers don't think that it is unprofessional. This makes the magazine front cover look more professional by adding this text.

In this image, I added text into the middle of the page, this is where the attention from the readers will be grabbed. On this I changed the colour of the text in some ways to make it look more appealing and so that people will want to read the magazine. Also, I added in the middle of the strip with the images, a circular feature, this is used to grab the readers attention again by appearing bold and appealing to the viewers.

Aforementioned adding the text in the centre, I changed the colours and added a stroke; this makes the text stand out from the rest, thus, grabbing the attention of the readers. In addition, I also added text around the page, appearing with a stroke on one, this one says 'PLUS!' which stands out from the other text, again making it look more appealing and professional just like a Total Film magazine. Also on the Total Film text, I added small text just like on other Total Film magazines which says "The World's Best Movie Reviews", giving it a more competent look.

This is my final piece.I have added texts, strokes and circular shapes to get a professional view. Carrying on from the text on the Total Film title, I added a plain outline of a circle around the text to engage the readers to the magazine. Aside from that, the final thing I did to the magazine is add text in the header 'Massive awards preview Oscar awards with TF" this is seen in Total Film magazines, and can be used to grab the attention of the readers, also giving it a more polished look.

InDesign
This is one of the images what I used in my magazine. What I had done different from the original is that I cropped it so that I could fit the image more appropriately into my spread. This had changed to also focus on one of the characters in my magazine, this makes it look less cluttered and gives it more of a professional look.

This is another image in which I had used in my magazine. This is an image of Tim Burton, this is because the movies which I had focused on, he helped to create them. By placing a picture of him in this shows the audience who had created the movies and all shows dedication for the man himself. His pose shows power, which also shows the audience that he is a powerful person. What I had done differently is that I had made him cropped into a circular image, which fits nicely into proportion in comparison to the magazine itself, giving the actual double page spread a more competent approach.

Starting project

This is where my project was at the beginning. At first, I set up all my guidelines and where I was going to place my images and text. I set my magazine at a 3 page spread this is because I wanted my magazine to look more spacious rather than all cluttered together. Finally, images are set on a diagonal to make it look more energetic and make the magazine look less boring.

Middle of the project

This is my magazine spread in the middle of progression. In comparison to starters, I had added all the text and images. However, the main difference is that I had added shapes to the number position of the movies, this made it look more professional. I had also began to add the main title and added lines to again give it more of a mature approach.

Final Piece

This is my final magazine spread and I am really pleased with the outcome of it. Some of the things in particular what I like about my magazine is the front page to it, I think it links really well to the rest of the magazine and it is in a particular colour theme with the rest of the magazine which matches. Another thing what I like is the diagonal images, this gives energy as they are angled towards the text and make the reader more attracted and want to read it. The borders are quite even which is what I like about them. Also,I like the big quote I have used in the middle of the magazine which again makes it look more appealing for the readers thus, creating flick-ability which stops the readers from missing the page when they are flicking through the magazine. I like the text as I have added strokes to make it stand out. Another thing on my front cover which I like it the collage of images which is what the readers see first so that they will be appealed and attracted to reading the actual magazine. In addition, another thing I have added is authenticity, I have done this by using kicker, page furniture, headers and also house font. The page furniture adds authenticity by making the magazine look like it has actual come from Total Film and the house style font gives the same affect when reading it.
